Adding a Poppy to your Dog’s Collar

I just thought I’d quickly share with you how you can add your felt poppy to your dog’s collar. You could even add a smaller one to your cat’s collar, if they allow you to! I made two poppies using the felt poppy pattern that I shared in another post https://lore-green.com/2019/10/24/make-your-own-felt-poppy-for-remembrance-day/ I made one poppy in the traditional red for Remembrance Day and one in purple to recognise the animals that were lost in conflict.

All you need to do to add the poppy to a collar is add a thin strip of felt to the back of the poppy instead of a brooch pin and then add Velcro to the ends the felt strip. Just wrap the felt strip around the collar (not your dogs neck) and affix the Velcro ends together to hold the poppy in place. You can even use the same method to make a poppy corsage that you wrap on your wrist like a bracelet.
